Increase Privacy In Your Home With These Top Tips
If you’re living in an area with lots of people, it can be hard to get some privacy. Even when you’re home, there’s always people walking around being nosey. So, here are a few ways you can increase privacy in your home:(Image by steinchen on pixabay https://goo.gl/R3HdJW |
Curtains/Blinds
If you want to increase privacy in the home, consider upgrading your curtains/blinds. Or, if you don’t have any on some windows, maybe it’s time you got them? One of the reasons we have curtains and blinds is to stop people looking into our house at night. They’re there to help us gain some privacy. If you have rubbish blinds, or curtains that don’t close properly, then your privacy is at risk. Get some that close well, and keep the inside of your house away from the public eye.
Garden Fence/Wall
A main privacy problem stems from the back garden. If your garden is open, then lots of people can see into it. Your neighbours will have a clear view of your back garden and so will passers by. So, a great idea is to put up a garden fence or wall. You can build them yourself, and they don’t take too long to set up. The difference between the two is that a fence is typically wood based, and a wall is made of stone/brick. Having one built around your garden can keep prying eyes away.
Tall Trees
If you don’t like the idea of a garden fence, then what about getting some tall trees? They can look a lot better than a fence, and it’s a natural way to block your garden from people’s view. Trees like the Thuja Green Giant are great for giving you more privacy. They will stop people from seeing into your garden and the back of your house. Trees are particularly good for people with big back gardens in open areas. Places where it’s easy for pedestrians to wander past your backyard and get a good look. No one likes to be sitting in their garden and feel like they’re being watched. So, a tree is a great alternative if you don’t like the look of a garden fence.

Front Gate
Lots of houses are built with open driveways. This makes it easy for people to walk up your drive and knock on your door. I’m all for being friendly, but sometimes you just want your privacy. You don’t want some people walking right up to your front door; it might not be safe. I recommend you get a front gate installed to http://sophiamagnolia.blogspot.com /2014/04/do-you-know-multiple-benefits-of-home.html">keep people out. A great idea would be to get an electronic one you can control yourself. This means it will only open if someone has the ‘key’ to open it. The ‘key’ is usually just a button you press, similar to how you open a car. But, you can also have the gate linked up to a buzzer inside your house. So, if someone wants to come to your house, they have to buzz up from the gate. That way, if you don’t want them coming in, you can just not press the button to open the gate! It’s a really simple way to keep out unwanted visitors and retain privacy.
